Community Hub

The PICC Community Hub is Palm Islanders’ central point for community-based activities and a trusted place to access essential services.

Located in the Palm Island Mall, the Hub is an innovative space designed to bring services and information together in one convenient location. This approach is especially valuable for vulnerable community members and those with complex needs who may feel uncertain about where to start.

The idea for the Hub came directly from the community. Many Palm Islanders expressed the need for a “jumping-off point”, a welcoming place where they could begin their journey to accessing the right services, even if they weren’t sure what was available or what they needed. PICC responded by creating the Community Hub to meet this need.

At the Hub, Palm Islanders can find information about services and resources across the island and receive practical help to access them. As Palm Island’s largest service provider, PICC delivers most of these services, but the Hub proudly assists people in connecting with any provider, whether on the island or the mainland. Our staff are trained to identify programs and supports that best fit each person’s circumstances, including services they might not know to ask for.

Mondays are the busiest day at the Hub, with Emergency Relief Funding (ERF) available for those in need and a vibrant community market outside, offering a variety of goods for everyone to enjoy.

Whether you’re seeking assistance or simply stopping by for a cup of tea and a friendly yarn with our staff, the Community Hub is here for Palm Islanders, whatever you might need.
